Student with painters in Paris, Touraine in Tours and Chinon, then in Franche Comté in Besançon, she learns various techniques such as drawing, watercolor, oil, ink, pasting and pastel. After this mini tour of France and artistic techniques, it is in Salins that she decides to place her easel.
And in six years… individual and collective exhibitions, successful competitions where she obtains several rewards, creation of posters, communication,
she decides to communicate her passion and to teach the pastel technique by creating courses destined for beginners then upgrading courses in different villages with her own pedagogy.
She organises training courses during the spring and winter holidays … in outdoor workshop.. during expositions.. she take part in demonstrations..
She also puts her passion in the service of the disabled people…

Martine SALENDRE opens the doors to her pastel universe with her smile and her constant joy for living.
“It is in this workshop at home that I create a great part of my paintings.
I live in the thermal city of Salins les Bains, little city of Franche-Comté which is located in the heart of a green Jura's valley, protected by two fortresses : St Andre (604 m) and Belin (584 m), reshaped by Vauban.
I do love music that accompanies my creativity and helps me to draw from the depth of my heart.”
This passionate pastel artist teaches the students to train their eyes according to a very personal method built from discovery.
Certainly this initiation is not always academic but very fast the hand becomes the continuation of eyes and thought, the fingers put themselves in movement and while discovering these pigments, penetrate into the delicate and sensual material of the dry pastel.
The students discover very fast unexpected feelings that lead them to the magic of pastel.
These Arts such as drawings, watercolors, paintings often have the reputation for being difficult and many novices may be discouraged, convinced they are not talented enough. It is a false idea. It is technique that is taught and everybody can hopefully quickly obtain positive results.
For beginners, it is a real unexpected discovery and a personalized initiation, adapted to the need of each, with ambition to develop their own artistic creativity, to enrich their imagination and sensibility. They dare to express themselves and then begin to perceive their potential. Little by little they get a great self-confidence.
They learn to observe the lines, the empty spaces, to visualize the environment, the whole in their respective perspectives by avoiding at first the use of black. They learn to dare the use of bright colours, making them sing.
Martine Salendre loves Nature, landscapes, the tree in its various aspects. They are her favourite subjects. Howether for her students, and with them, she does not hesitate to take risks. Every piece of work is a challenge to be overcome!
But without forgetting they are there above all for their pleasure.
Pastel is well and truly a painting, it is the richest in coloring pigments in which our fingers are the paintbrushes.
Everything is implemented so that everyone feels at ease in an atmosphere of conviviality and friendliness.
